- Per gram at this karat
- $77.67
How it works
- 10 g = 10 g.
- 10 g x 0.5833 (14k (58.3%)) = 5.833 g of pure gold.
- 0.1875 troy oz x $4,141.80 spot = $776.73 melt value.
- Dealers pay 60% to 90% of melt for jewelry and scrap. That range is an editorial estimate.

How the scrap value is worked out
1. Convert the weight to grams (dwt x 1.5552, troy oz x 31.1035).
2. Multiply by the purity: 10k is .4167, 14k is .5833, 18k is .75, 22k is .9167, 24k is .999. That is the grams of pure gold.
3. Divide by 31.1035 for troy ounces, then multiply by the live gold spot price. That is the melt value.
4. A dealer pays a share of melt. Lustre shows 60% to 90%, an editorial estimate: pawn and walk-in shops pay near the low end, specialist gold buyers and refiners near the high end. It is not a quote. Get two offers.

How this calculator works
How do I calculate scrap gold value?
Weigh the gold, multiply the weight in grams by the karat purity (14k = 0.5833), divide by 31.1035 to get troy ounces of pure gold, and multiply by the gold spot price. That is melt value.
How much will a dealer pay for scrap gold?
Dealers typically pay about 60% to 90% of melt value. Pawn and walk-in shops are at the low end; specialist gold buyers and refiners are at the high end. This is a Lustre editorial estimate, not a quote.
What is the purity of 10k, 14k, 18k and 22k gold?
10k is 41.67% gold (.4167), 14k is 58.33% (.5833, often marked 585), 18k is 75% (.750), 22k is 91.67% (.9167) and 24k is 99.9% (.999).
How many grams are in a pennyweight?
One pennyweight (dwt) is 1.55517 grams. Twenty pennyweights make one troy ounce.
Should I include the weight of stones?
No. Subtract the weight of stones, enamel and non-gold parts, or the result will be too high.
