Quick answers
What is silver worth today?
The live silver spot price is at the top of this page in US dollars per troy ounce. Items made of silver are worth the pure silver they contain times that price, which is their melt value.
What is the premium on silver coins and bars?
It is the amount over melt that a dealer charges. In October 2026 we saw roughly 3% to 6% on a kilo bar, 4% to 8% on a 10 oz bar, 6% to 10% on a 1 oz round and 10% to 15% on 1 oz government coins.
What is the cheapest way to buy silver?
Per ounce, larger bars usually carry the lowest premium and one-ounce government coins the highest. Compare current dealer prices on the compare pages.
What are my old silver coins worth?
Pre-1965 US dimes, quarters and half dollars are 90% silver. Use the junk silver calculator with their face value.
