Premium is the Lustre range of what dealers charged over the metal value for one item on 28 Oct 2026 (SD Bullion and Kitco, single-item prices), rounded outward. It moves every day; see compare prices for the dealers. Large bars usually carry a lower premium per ounce than small coins, because the making cost is spread over more metal. A 1,000 troy ounce silver bar weighs 31.1 kg.

Kilos and ounces

A kilo is not 32 troy ounces

A kilo is 1,000 grams, which is 32.1507 troy ounces. A dealer prices a kilo bar by its exact content, so it is worth a little more than 32 ounces (about 0.15 troy ounce, or 4.7 grams, of silver more). Weighing in grams avoids the mix-up between troy ounces, everyday ounces and kilos.
